Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
1. Information we collect
When you sign in with SpryLogin, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your identity provider. If you save stories, we store the story IDs associated with your account. We do not collect payment information or sell personal data.
2. How we use your information
Your account information is used solely to personalise your experience — such as displaying your name in the header and maintaining your reading list. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.
3. Cookies
SpryNews uses minimal cookies: a short-lived httpOnly cookie during the sign-in flow (OAuth state, expires in 10 minutes), a theme preference cookie, and standard session cookies. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
4. Third-party services
News articles are sourced from third-party publishers. Clicking 'Read original' will take you to those publishers' websites, which have their own privacy policies. We also use AccuWeather for weather data.
5. Data retention
Your saved stories and account preferences are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your reading list at any time from the Saved page. To fully delete your account, contact us at privacy@sprynews.com.
6. Security
Authentication is handled by SpryLogin (Keycloak). We do not store your password. API communications use HTTPS. OAuth state tokens are stored in httpOnly cookies to prevent CSRF and XSS attacks.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The 'Last updated' date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of SpryNews after changes constitutes acceptance.
