What to know about the victims of the In-N-Out Burger shooting

"She lit up a room with her bright smile," said the family of Ashley Garibay.

The three victims killed in a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Idaho have been identified by their families and officials.

They included a woman described as someone who "lit up a room with her bright smile," a man who had found sobriety after overcoming the death of his newlywed wife and a beloved grandfather whose wife was also injured in the shooting.

Ashley Garibay, Christopher Claunch and Dale Schultz were killed during a shooting rampage on Saturday at one of the fast-food chain's eateries in Twin Falls, Idaho, city officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The suspected shooter , identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after two armed Good Samaritans returned fire, according to police.

Seven other people were wounded in the shooting, including two who were critically injured, authorities said.

"These families are experiencing an unimaginable loss or injured family member, and they deserve compassion, privacy, and every available measure of assistance our department and partner agencies can provide," Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said in a statement.

Ashley Garibay

Family members said Ashley Garibay worked as an In-N-Out Burger associate in California, but traveled to Twin Falls to help train the staff at the chain's newly opened restaurant.

“We are heartbroken and devastated by the loss of Ashley -- a devoted daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend -- whose life was taken from us far too soon," Garibay's family said in a statement.

Relatives said Garibay's landed her first job working at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Stockton, California, and "fell in love with it."

"She proudly traveled to open new stores, and her dream was to one day manage an In-N-Out store. She was passionate about serving Customers and left this world doing what she loved to do," the family's statement said.

Garibay was described by her family as "a devoted daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend -- whose life was taken from us far too soon."

"Ashley was an amazing, beautiful soul who loved living life," her family said. "She was adventurous, outgoing, smart and driven, never letting obstacles get in her way. She lit up a room with her bright smile and a laugh that was contagious. She was a friend to all, and no matter what difficulties she was facing, she always found a way to help others find the light in the darkness."

"She was a valued member of our IN-N-OUT Family, who strongly embodied our values and provided the friendliest service to our customers, with a smile and warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone she met," In-N-Out Burger said in a statement on social media on Wednesday.

"We will remember Ashley as a beloved friend and teammate whose dedication, pride, and compassion will never be forgotten," the statement continued. "We extend our deepest condolences to Ashley’s family, friends, loved ones, and fellow Associates during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful to have had Ashley as part of our IN-N-OUT Family and will continue to honor and cherish her memory today and always."

Christopher Claunch

A California native, 59-year-old Christopher Claunch fell in love with Idaho and decided to move there three decades ago, according to his sister, Kimberly Castaneda.

Castaneda told The New York Times that her brother worked at the Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center in Rupert, Idaho.

Claunch had found sobriety two years ago after struggling with alcoholism for many years, his sister told the Times.

She told The New York Times that her brother's first wife died in a car crash just three months after they were married and that "he had always hurt from that loss."

After moving to Idaho 30 years ago, Claunch met his partner of 25 years, Teresa Sperry, whom he shared a home with.

Sperry told the Times that Claunch loved traveling, cooking and the outdoors.

Castaneda said her brother would make it a point to eat at an In-N-Out Burger every time he visited the California, where the fast-food chain was founded and where it's restaurants are primarily located.

When the In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls opened last month, Castaneda said her brother told her he was looking forward to going there, but planned to wait, "knowing the hype would only cause long lines."

"You have no idea how surprised I was when I found out he was there," Castaneda told the Times.

Dale Schultz

Salt Lake City resident Dale Schultz, 66, and his wife were charging their Tesla on Saturday when the shooting occurred, killing him and injuring his longtime spouse, his sister-in-law told ABC Boise affiliate KIVI .

He was remembered by his wife's sister as "the model father and grandfather and husband."

Schultz and his wife had known each other since they were teenagers and were married for nearly 50 years, their family said. They have three children together and helped raise their grandchildren.

"He was a rock in our family, and a rock for her. They'd been together for over 46 years," his distraught sister-in-law told KIVI.

Schultz's wife suffered a shattered collarbone and shrapnel injuries to her arm and is expected to undergo additional surgeries, her family told KIVI.

"It was a horrible, horrible, horrible act of violence," her sister told KIVI. "We won't ever be the same."

Gregory Glenn, the director of liturgy and music for the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, remembered Schultz as a "beloved alumni parent, gifted artist, and member of our extended Choir School family" in a social media post.

"Please continue to keep the Schultz family, their loved ones, and all those affected by this tragedy in your prayers," he said.
