The Green party may be close to overtaking Labour’s membership figures, after Labour suffered a 20% drop in 2025, according to its latest accounts.
The return by the Labour party shows its number of members had fallen from 333,235 to 264,754 at the end of 2025 compared with a year earlier.
In May, the Green party claimed its membership total was 230,000, which would put it within 34,000 members of overtaking Labour.
A spokesperson said figures had “quadrupled” in the last year since Zack Polanski became leader. Its membership stood at 186,441 at the end of December.
