Erin Patterson appeal live: mushroom murderer to challenge convictions over fatal beef wellington lunch

Prosecutors are now beginning to respond to the arguments put forward by Patterson’s legal team.

The director of public prosecutions for Victoria , Brendan Kissane KC , says there is “no substance” to ground one about the “irregularity” that occurred during the jury’s sequestration.

He says there is “no evidence” to support the ground and rejects Edney’s argument the sequestration was “catastrophic”.

He says an email from the judge’s associate and the prosecution’s response establishes there was “no actual contact” between any juror and outside party.

“What we submit is the system worked as it was intended to work,” he says.
