Police arrest a 15-year-old in shooting near Florida A&M stadium that injured 12

Tallahassee police officers at the scene of a shooting that occurred near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
A 15-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a shooting close to Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium over the weekend that injured 12 people, according to police.
The Tallahassee Police Department said Monday that detectives had arrested the teenager Sunday in connection with the shooting. The teenager is facing 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.
“What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families,” Police Chief Lawrence Revell said.
“While this arrest marks a significant step forward, our work is far from over. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and getting answers for every family impacted by this tragedy,” he added.

The shooting broke out about 8 p.m. Saturday, near Perry and Manatee streets, close to the stadium, where homecoming celebrations included a football game.
The 12 people injured included minors. One individual also sustained an ankle injury while fleeing the gunfire, police said.

After the shooting took place, the university issued a statement on X asking members of its campus community to stay away from the area. It described the shooting as having taken place “near campus,” which it said remained safe.
“Our hearts are with the victims and everyone affected by tonight’s incident on Perry Street,” the university added.
Police said Monday that they were continuing to investigate the incident but that preliminary findings indicated “a physical altercation occurred before shots were fired” and that “the incident stemmed from a dispute between individuals known to one another.”
They added that “none of the victims appear to have been the intended targets.”
Additional arrests are possible, Tallahassee police said, as the investigation continues.
